The way sociologists study social problems begins first with
their view on how the world works.
Based on a theory, a set of assumptions and propositions used for
explanation, prediction, and understanding. Sociologists
begin to define the relationship between society and individuals.
Society: The society is conceived to be the humanly created
organization or system of interrelationships that connects individual in a
common culture. All the products of human interaction, the experience of living
with others around us. Humans create
their interactions, and once created the products of those interactions have
the ability or power to act back upon humans to determine or constrain
action.
CASE STUDY: (Conflict between
Normadic Fulani herdsmen and their host community which could result into religious crisis, intertribal crisis
and death of both humans and animals).

The problem exists within
the society which consists of both humans and institutions: Since the problem has been identified within the
community, so, we need to understand their culture, values and language, and
norms, and belief system. For effective communication, one needs to be fluent
in the community language in order to get their maximum cooperation.
Since
everyone in the society are not equal, therefore we need to identify the
leadership structure ( e.g going to the traditional leaders and opinion leaders
for legitimization). We need to identify with the power structure
that exists within the community, that is, the leader who happens to be the
king of the community. We need to convince the leaders beyond doubt of the
problem identified within the community, and the benefits both parties stand to
gain at the end of the resolution. If permission is granted, other stakeholders
should be involved so as to know their respective roles in development
